Graphic Design

Designed for my photography blog, paragraphically. This header is meant to look like a camera peeking out of tall grass. The photorealistic lens is a sharp contrast to the rest of the graphics.

Header for a baking blog, pedestrian baker. I built the cake crosswalk signal from a photo of an actual crosswalk.

I recently created this header for The Problem With Young People Today Is….

This is a new political blog. The writers wanted a serious look, which is why most of the words appear to be carved in stone. I highlighted the word “civil” because the January 2011 shootings in Tucson, Arizona prompted creation of the blog.

This is a website redesign for Discursive Labs, and Information Technology firm in Los Angeles.

I designed this letterhead for a Portland, Maine, lawfirm called cardigan. (Full disclosure: it’s my law firm. I am only posting this to demonstrate my design skills, not to advertise my legal skills.)

My goal was for a light, airy, modern look. Too often, legal design is heavy and boring. The letterhead is modern, yet retains a serious nature appropriate for a professional company.

I came up with this design for a project, but decided to go a different direction. I love its whispery depth and I will find a use for it someday.

Photo Manipulation

I combined two photos to create this image. One, a photo from the coast of Maine. The other, a cast iron mermaid I photographed in my apartment.

Photo Retouching

This original photo of Stickworks by Patrick Dougherty is lovely, but doesn’t reflect what I saw in real life.

I separated the sky from the sculpture and enhanced the color of each. Now, this looks like what I remember.
